How this real estate agent grew her new business using social media

Updated: May 2, 2022

Here at Ripl, our goal is simple: to help small businesses succeed on social media. We love hearing about how these businesses find creative ways to grow their presence on social. Today’s story comes from a realtor in Baltimore who got her start in 2019, and built a thriving real estate business, with the help of social media

Meet April, the realtor behind April Baker The Deal Maker

April Baker is a realtor in Maryland who works with Samson Properties, one of the best brokerages in the US.

“I began my business as a means of comfort; my husband was sick, and I needed to free myself. I needed a way out. This was just before COVID officially hit. People were sick and didn't know the reason. I was looking for a way to make a difference. I was not too fond of how I was treated when I purchased my home, So I decided to learn how to sell houses.”

April’s business is fueled by her gift for negotiation, and her love of helping her clients find their dream homes.

“In my last full-time job, I worked as a buyer in a major hospital, for a pharmacy that I loved. I had plenty of experience negotiating, so I turned to real estate. I have loved every minute of watching my client’s dreams come true!”

How social media has played a role in her business

Glancing at April’s Instagram, you’ll instantly see happy customers, tips, and invitations to her Instagram Lives. But using social media to market her real estate business came with a learning curve.

“My social media before Ripl was monotonous; just still images. When I found out about Ripl, my marketing came to life. I did use a few apps before engaging with Ripl, but once I found this site, I fell in love. I no longer use any of the other apps. Ripl has put me at the forefront of my business. I am so thankful for its creators.”

Increasing visibility and celebrating wins on social media with Ripl

Once she started posting with Ripl designs, April saw an increase in results for her business.

“People enjoy videos, and when I add music, they love it. I make sure everyone knows where my vision came from, and I proudly tag Ripl in my posts. I am sure I wouldn't have as much exposure without them. Every home I sell gets a Ripl post. It's the best for marketing any product, and I recommend the app to everyone.”

April made the most out of Ripl’s video optimized templates and brand slide feature.

“No more plain, still images. My still photos have movement, and my art came to life. It was like Ripl read my mind. I had a thought, and there was an image to match. I have used this service for several years, and will continue to do so. It has increased my visibility on all my social media! I am on every social media site.”

April’s advice for other small businesses that want to build a connection with customers on social media

We asked April to reflect on her experience using social media, to advise other businesses who want to get more from their marketing.

“Social Media is the best way to get your name out there. Everything is digital now. Everyone has some form of social media. I built my business on Facebook.”

She also understands the importance of building a personal brand that makes you stand out from other similar brands.

“My slogan is “April Baker The Realtor! She's A Household Name.” I use that on my social media bio because I want to be a household name. I want to be the first thought to cross your mind before choosing a realtor.”
